In less than three weeks, Austrian ace, Hannes Bohinc, will return to one of his favourite venues, Valletta, for the opening round of the 2009 P1 World Championship, racing for OSG Racing in a Mercury-powered Outerlimits SV43. Surprisingly, it will be the first time for Bohinc with petrol engines. "Since my career took off in 1992, every challenge and every victory has been achieved with diesel engines," he said. "I remain loyal to the qualities of diesel power but the change is necessary as P1 rules and circuit layouts favour petrol engines." The last time a diesel-powered boat won the Evolution Class was in 2005 when Bohinc, in his Wettpunkt.com (picture), took the honours on the final day of the season. The Grand Prix of Malta takes place over the weekend of May 9 and 10.
