Prayer vigil at Ta’ Pinu sanctuary

The vigil will be broadcast on UTV and Radju Marija on 102.3FM

Maltese and Gozitans will gather for a prayer vigil at Ta’ Pinu sanctuary square on August 14, eve of the feast of the Assumption of Our Lady, between 8pm and 10pm. The vigil will consist of prayers and sung Psalms, while Cardinal Mario Grech will lead a vigil mass, followed by Eucharistic adoration led by the Gozo Diocese Eucharistic Movement.

Mgr Renato Borg will celebrate mass at midnight. The vigil will be broadcast on UTV and Radju Marija on 102.3FM and live streamed on the Gozo Diocese social media. Transport will be available from all parishes.

On Friday, feast of Santa Marija, masses will be said at Ta’ Pinu sanctuary at 6.15am, 8.30, 10 and 11.15am and 5pm. A special mass will be held at Għammar Hill at 6am. Pilgrims will depart from Ta’ Pinu square at 5.30am. In the evening, rosary will be recited at the house of Frenċ in Għarb at 5pm, followed by Eucharistic blessing. The public is encouraged to attend.

The sanctuary’s new rector, Mgr Carmelo Refalo, is inviting the public to visit Our Lady, uttering the words echoed gently through the serene air of the sanctuary “Come, come” – calling all who are weary to find rest.

“This is more than an invitation to enter a physical space; it is a call to open the heart to prayer, healing, and grace,” Mgr Refalo says.

“Amid the sanctuary’s tranquil surroundings, one can feel the loving presence of the Virgin Mary, offering comfort, hope and renewal to all who seek a deeper connection with the divine.”
