The BOV Premier League has fallen victim to the COVID-19 pandemic for the first time in season 2021-22 as the match between Sliema Wanderers and Balzan was postponed to a later date, the Malta Football Association announced.

The match was originally scheduled to be played tomorrow at the Tony Bezzina, with kick-off time set at 6pm. However, the game has now been put back to a later date after the Wanderers reported an increasing number of COVID-19 cases in their squad.

“Due to issues related to COVID-19, Sliema Wanderers’ upcoming BOV Premier League match against Balzan FC, scheduled for Saturday, December 11, at 18.00 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium, will be rescheduled to a later date,” the Malta FA said in a statement.
