Zebbug local council said historic sites such as the Mnajdra Temples should be protected from possible harm, like for example that which could be done by siting engineered landfills in the vicinity.

The council said it believed that the sites, which are a national and international heritage, should be preserved while nothing should be done to lessen their importance.
