Price of bread

The price of Maltese bread went up last Monday. Now the minister concerned is to have talks with the bakers' representatives to liberalise the price of bread once and for all.

My hope is that, first, the price to be fixed (by the bakers themselves) should be made on weight and not on whether it is a small or a large loaf. Otherwise we will go on being robbed, as we never know for what weight we are paying.

Secondly, the government should order bakers to fix the price of bread where it could be seen, if possible, from outside. No one is going to enter a bakery to ask at what price bread is being sold there.
