We refer to Joseph Tabone's letter Exhorbitant Mark-Up On Medicinal (February 17). We wish to clarify that the price of Plavix tablets was reduced by our principals, Sanofi Aventis, and hence the public price was likewise reduced. Indeed, with most major pharmaceutical companies it is they who set the public price and not the distributor. Mr Tabone's allegation of a 50 per cent mark-up is pure fantasy.

Some people always find a reason to complain, both when prices increase as well as decrease.
