After last year's successful performance during Prize Day, the drama students at Guzè Damato Boys Secondary School, Paola, staged a one-act comedy made up of another collage of Aesopian fables. This time it was called The Donkey who Wanted to be a Lion.

In a hall packed with students, parents and teachers, the young actors played the parts of different animals, which in Aesop's fables are always the protagonists. The idea and the script were by John Suda, while Mr N. Camilleri, a teacher at the school, directed the play, with the help of Bernardo Riolo from the Drama Unit.

This annual event was attended by Education Division officials, mayors, the president and members of the School Council, former students and the Director of the Chinese Cultural Centre, Xiaowei Xiang.

The evening also included a selection of musical pieces played by students directed by Mr M. Cassar, another teacher at the school. Franklin Calleja sang A new World, while Aleandro Pace Tahir offered a medley on the pianoforte.

The focal point of the evening was the award of prizes to students who distinguished themselves during the 2003-2004 scholastic year. Earlier on, hcad of school Anthony Demicoli delivered a speech on the main school events during this scholastic year.
