A 32-year-old man was placed under probation for two years yesterday after he pleaded guilty to violently resisting the police and attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.

Vincent Attard from Valletta pleaded guilty to violently resisting police officers, insulting them, trying to cause grievous bodily harm to Joseph Borg, assaulting and threatening him, causing over €116.47 (Lm50) damage to a Toyota car and carrying a knife without a police licence. The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

He also admitted to relapsing.

Police Inspector James Grech prosecuted.

Lawyers Josè Herrera and Veronique Dalli appeared for Mr Attard.
