I am not a frequent visitor at the Hamrun council offices, although I have been Iiving here for over 50 years. Recently, I needed to use the services offered by the council.

After I had the relevant information, all I needed was a five-minute job at a particular street which could be easily done by the council. After several attempts to contact the mayor, whom it was impossible to reach by mobile phone, I had no other option but to call at his office.

For these last six weeks, I have gone there nearly twice a week to try and solve this situation. During these meetings with him the answers I got were only promises.

I am sure the mayor has taken me for a ride during these last weeks. Should this be the attitude of a mayor who is there to serve all Hamrun residents?
