The HSBC Malta Property Expo is being held for the first time this year at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre in Ta' Qali this weekend.

Inaugurated this afternoon by Parliamentary Secretary Chris Said, the expo is today open until 10 p.m., tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Keith Pillow, the managing idrector of the Duplex Real Estate Branding, the organising company, said the idea to hold the fair originated a year and a half ago. The idea was to create a platform on which to internationally exhibit Maltese property.

GRTU director general Vince Farrugia said the fair was being organised at an important stage in the financial crisis. It was positive that people in the property sector had come together to show their product and the people should take advantage of the situation which was seeing time developers in Malta offering the best package to buy a home.

Trafford Busuttil called on the government to come up with the required legislation for the country to be able to export the Malta property package.

The fair, which includes the participation of 75 exhibitors, also includes seminars.
