An environment impact assessment as well as a public consultation process would have to be carried out before any decisions on an engineered landfill were taken, said Resources and Infrastructure Minister Francis Zammit Dimech yesterday.

It had not yet been decided where the landfill would be sited, he said when he was speaking at the PN club in Qormi.

The landfill would only cater for a minimal part of the waste that was generated.
