Jurors in an attempted murder trial yesterday attended an on-site inquiry during which they were shown where a Paola man allegedly tried to run over another man last year.
The inquiry marked the end of the prosecution's case. The prosecution declared it had no more evidence to produce in the trial by jury of Mark Lawrence Rizzo, presided over by Mr Justice Joseph Galea Debono.
Rizzo, 38, of Paola is pleading not guilty to the attempted murder of Desmond Falzon in Paola on July 2, 2002.
The prosecution is claiming that on the day of the incident Falzon met Rizzo and asked Rizzo to give him the money the latter owed him. Later that day Rizzo, who was reluctant to pay his debt, waited for Falzon in St Ubaldesca Street and drove his red Ford Ka in Falzon's direction at a high speed.
Falzon, who was with his daughter at the time, managed to pull her out of the way and avoid being hit by the car.
After the minutes taken during the on-site inquiry were read out in court, defence counsel Anglu Farrugia presented his case to jurors.
The trial continues.
