One can contribute to the strengthening of Malta's role as a hub in the adaptation of theory, policy, service and practice to culture and context by participating in a conference week whose details are at www.confluence.com.mt.
Academics from the University and others who would consider writing a paper are kindly invited to write as soon as possible of their interest without obligation - to charles.pace@um. edu.mt, indicating the subject they are considering.
The conference themes include Psychiatry Across Cultures, Migration and Acculturative Stress, Mental Health in the light of Islam and Related Cultures and Adapting Service to Culture, Capability and Need.
Papers are welcomed from literature and cultural studies, psychiatry, health services management, comparative social policy, anthropology, sociology, religious studies and the principles and practice of care particular to various helping professions, among other fields.
The conference is organised by the Transcultural Psychiatry Section of the World Psychiatric Association Caretranslate International Network and the University of Malta. It is co-sponsored by the World Psychiatric Association, World Islamic Association for Mental Health, and the Istituto Italiano Igiene Mentale Transculturale.
