The government this morning launched for public consultation Malta’s proposed programme of projects with the 2014 - 2020 European funds earmarked for the country.

The consultation was launched with the social partners during a meeting of the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development.

European Affairs Minister Louis Grech said the main aim of the government was to achieve national development from an economic, social and environment perspective to ameliorate the people’s standard of living.

This could be attained through the creation of a positive business environment that was conducive to investment leading to more and better jobs.

It was imperative that the social dimension was duly safeguarded through the promotion of economic growth while strengthening the economic fundamentals.

He said the three funding priorities were to:

foster competitiveness through innovation and the creation of a business friendly environment;sustain an environmentally friendly and resource efficient economy; andcreate opportunities through investment in human capital and improve health and well-being.
