Friday, December 18, marked the celebration of the National Day of the State of Qatar, in commemoration of Qatar’s unification in 1878 and reverence to the modern State’s founder, the late Sheikh Jassim Bin Mohammed Al-Thani.

This year, the celebration’s motto is: 'We praise you, the Lord of the Throne, We accept your judgment in all actions.'

On this auspicious occasion, Khalid Abel, chargé d'affaires at the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Malta, affirmed Qatar’s achievements in addressing the threat of COVID-19 and helping more than 70 countries and international organisations to combat the pandemic.

He also announced the latest milestone achievement on the road to FIFA World Cup Qatar 2020 – the inauguration of Al-Rayyan stadium. He added how 2020 was a bright year due to Qatar’s achievements and success in various local and foreign sectors. 

He also praised the excellent bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and Malta, and welcomed the Government of Malta’s decision to open its Embassy in Doha – Qatar in the upcoming months.
