Following their defeat at the hands of Rabat in the championship decider the previous week, more was expected from Qormi. However, they failed once again to overcome Rabat, the champions.

Qormi began well and took control of midfield but for all their possession, they hardly troubled Azzopardi in goal. That changed on 21 minutes when Joseph Cuschieri delivered a through pass to the unmarked Keith Calleja who beat the Rabat keeper with a reverse hit on the turn.

Qormi continued to dictate matters until the 32nd minute when Rabat launched a counter-attack. Charlot Antonelli passed to Mario Galea who beat Chircop with a first-time slap shot to equalise.

Within one minute, Rabat went ahead when Chircop fouled Jonathan Micallef in a one-on-one situation to concede a penalty. James Azzopardi did not miss.

After the change of ends, Qormi collapsed. Their passes and moves became erratic and confused with Rabat taking full advantage.

On 57 minutes, Rabat were awarded a second penalty after Piscopo deliberately pushed Galea off the ball. From the resultant stroke, Azzopardi again beat Chircop.

Three minutes later, Rabat scored goal no.4 through Mario Galea who concluded a combination between Michael Galea and Mark Bugeja.

In the semi-finals, Rabat meet Sliema and White Hart play Young Stars.
