A recent advert (Classified, October 28) by Heritage Malta, a prestigious government entity, for the post of ‘clerk’ baffled me given the low standard of education being requested for the post.
They asked for a school-leaving certificate (compulsory level), basic computer skills and “a food handling qualification certificate”.
The mind boggles. What sort of clerk does this entity require? It seems to be a tailored-fit job for somebody aiming for a public service clerical scale salary as the first step to reach headship within the public service before retirement age.
What a shame!
