Quantity of waste catches fire in Zabbar field

No one injured in night-time blaze

Firefighters had a busy Sunday-Monday night in Zabbar after a field full of an assortment of waste caught fire.

The blaze was reported at about 1.15am and firefighters used some 7,000 litres of water to extinguish it and cool the affected area.

No one was injured.

People on the scene said the private, enclosed field contained items ranging from iron beams to quantities of cable.
