Queen Mary University donates 70 computers to Gozo school

Computers given to Bishop Conservatory Secondary School, Victoria, after major IT upgrade at university

Students attending Bishop Conservatory Secondary School in Victoria are set to benefit from improved digital learning facilities following the donation of 70 computers by Queen Mary University of London Malta Campus. The computers were handed to the school after the university completed a major upgrade of its IT infrastructure. Rather than disposing of the equipment, the university chose to donate the computers to the school.

University staff also assisted with the installation and setup of the computers, ensuring they were ready for immediate use by students and teachers. Professor Anthony Warrens, dean of Queen Mary University of London Malta Campus, said the initiative reflects the institution’s commitment to both education and community engagement. “Following our recent technology upgrade, we recognised an opportunity to extend the life of our equipment while supporting local students and strengthening digital learning opportunities in Gozo,” he said.

Bishop Conservatory secondary school principal Marvic Galea welcomed the donation, describing it as a valuable contribution to the school’s ongoing efforts to enhance digital education. “These computers will provide important support for both students and teachers and help us continue to strengthen digital learning within our school,” Galea said. “We are grateful to Queen Mary Malta Campus for this generous initiative and ongoing collaboration.”

Since opening in Gozo in 2019, Queen Mary University Malta Campus has welcomed students from around the world to its medical degree programme delivered by Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry.
