With the second round now beyond its halfway mark, there was little change in the league table after the latest hockey matches.
Sunday was another positive day for Punch & Judy Rabat who extended their lead at the top thanks to a 2-0 victory over bottom-placed Pasta Poiatti Qormi.
The George Pub rejoined the battle for second place with a rather fortunate 1-0 victory over Young Stars.
Punch & Judy's relentless march towards their fourth league title continues. Despite not fielding their best formation, Rabat raced into a two-goal lead by half-time with goals from Shaun Falzon and Jonathan Seychell.
Pasta Poiatti fought back well in the second half and were rather unlucky when Reuben Chircop hit the post on two occasions.
In the second game of the day, The George Pub ended a sequence of three consecutive losses by defeating Young Stars.
Young Stars, quite justifiably, may feel hard done by the 1-0 scoreline. They dominated the match from start to finish, wasting numerous scoring chances as well as seeing The George Pub goalkeeper perform a couple of good saves.
In the end, however, it is the goals that count and from the half a dozen scoring chances that The George Pub conjured up, they struck a simple killer blow 10 minutes from time.
With three passes, they broke out of defence and wrongfooted the Young Stars defence. David Agius showed no mercy with his hit from the top of the dee.
The George Pub will now take Rabat in Sunday's second game starting at 11 a.m.
In the first match of the day, The Athlete's Foot face Young Stars. The first round matches ended in identical scorelines of 2-0 in favour of Rabat and The Athlete's Foot.
