The police station was closed in April last year

Rabat police station has reopened after extensive refurbishment work which took 16 months.

The Home Affairs Ministry said the works were aimed at improving police presence and service as well as the working environment for officers.

Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri said the police presence in the community had never been stronger, leading to a reduction in crime

He pointed out that similar work had also been carried out at police stations in Msida, Ħamrun and Mtarfa. A modern police station was also built at Marsascala. The police stations in Marsalforn and Siġġiewi were upgraded to provide round the clock services.  At the same time, a remote reporting facility was introduced, enabling people to digitally file reports to the police.
