In one of his recent speeches Dr Alfred Sant expressed his opinion that Maltese people of a darker skin colour are more anxious for membership of the European Union as this would authenticate their European identity.

I find this declaration extremely offensive, racist to the nth degree, indicative of weird and warped thinking and therefore totally unbecoming an aspiring leader of the nation.
