Rain forces PN to cancel event, Labour to take cover

Labour event originally slated for Manoel Island shifted to Ta' Qali

Rain showers forced the Nationalist Party to call off a political in Swieqi and Labour to shift its manifesto launch from Manoel Island to the Ta’Qali conference centre.

PN leader Alex Borg had only just begun addressing supporters gathered for the open-air event in Swieqi on Friday evening when rain started to fall.

Borg put on a brave face for a few minutes, telling those gathered that a PN government will make Swieqi a priority and hand more power to local councils.

As more umbrellas started to pop up around Swieqi and Borg's crisp white shirt started to get noticeably soggier, a decision was taken by the party to call off the event.

Labour appears to have been more attentive to the weather forecast, shifting their manifesto launch at Manoel Island to Ta’ Qali studio.

Showers and wind are expected to pick up during the night.
