The archaeological society Malta ARCH is organising a day of art-related activities outside the Mosta Rotunda on Saturday.

The event, held to raise awareness on the locality’s threatened Tal-Qares site, will include a visual art exhibition, poetry and speeches, children’s workshops and an audience forum.

Paintings, sculptures and installations focusing on the theme of archaeology and its wonders, by Anna Grima, Alessio Cuschieri, Angele Galea and Jamie Ciantar, will be on display.

There will be various poetry performances and speeches related to Malta’s archaeology, Mosta’s Tal-Qares site and on the necessity to protect and preserve Malta’s heritage.

During the children’s workshops, Galea will show children the ancient art of paper folding known as origami. She will help them upcycle flyers, create original origami animals and design archaeological motifs. Dawn Adrienne-Saliba will lead archaeology-related necklace-beading, colouring, writing and drawing activities.

The programme also includes an audience forum, by which visitors will be able to express their views through speech, writing and art.
