Rangers manager Alex McLeish took a verbal swipe at his critics and pointed to CSKA Moscow's UEFA Cup success as a measure of his side's progress.
The Glasgow giants face a nerve-shredding final day of the season tomorrow when they try to overtake rivals Celtic for the Scottish Premier League title.
They trail Celtic by two points but enjoy a slightly better goal difference.
McLeish, who has re-built his team twice this term, said at a news conference: "When you win a championship then you tend to think you won it because you have edged it because you are the best team.
"And you see CSKA Moscow's result on Thursday night (against Sporting Lisbon) and we were told they were clowns when we played them in the Champions League.
"For me, the people who say these things, well, they should trust us a wee (little) bit more and respect us a wee bit more in what we are saying because we are more qualified to make these points."
Rangers lost to CSKA 3-2 on aggregate in the third qualifying round of the Champions League last year.
Rangers travel to Edinburgh to face third-placed Hibernian. Celtic are at sixth-placed Motherwell.
McLeish said: "There is pressure on both of us and we have a really hard game against Hibs who are looking for a point to secure that European place.
"They have had a great season and are not an easy team to play."
