The 16th anniversary of the murder of Raymond Caruana was yesterday commemorated with a wreath-laying ceremony at his grave at the Gudja cemetery.

Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, accompanied by Nationalist Party general secretary Joe Saliba, yesterday led a small delegation of party officials to the cemetery.

The symbolic ceremony recalled the life of the young man who was shot in 1986 when he was having a drink at the PN club in Gudja.

Investigations into this politically motivated murder during the turbulent 1980s have never been solved, the PN has often insisted.

A Mass for the repose of his soul was yesterday said at the Gudja parish church.
