Certificates were recently awarded by the chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Social Affairs Clyde Puli to 39 new Programm Ulied Darna volunteers at the conclusion of their initial training.
Through Programm Ulied Darna, offered by Appogg, trained volunteers, under the guidance of professionals, offer time, skills, friendship, material support, information and practical help to facilitate the life of families who are under stress, in their own homes to promote the enjoyment of family life.
Mr Puli praised the volunteers for deciding to take up this challenge and wished them well in their endeavours. He said the dedication of these volunteers was commendable. "Such projects were essential to reach out to families in need of support and should thus be encouraged in every feasible manner," Mr Puli said.
He said the addition of another 39 volunteers to the existing team would continue to strengthen the services Appogg gave to families in the best interest of children, who were the major concern of the agency.
The volunteers will now go on to work within two of Programm Ulied Darna projects, namely Progett Flimkien and Progett Hsibt Fik. Both projects have been in operation for four years and the demand for volunteers is ever on the increase.
