With regard to the Royal Opera House I wish to assure Mr Rizzo that although the Manoel Theatre is doing well with other cultural presentations, through a very good management team, it does not have the house capacity, barely 600 seats including all tier boxes and its balcony, nor the stage cubical commodity to present certain representations.
The Mediterranean Conference Centre's stage is so small it cannot even house an orchestral concert let alone operas or other manifestations that require quite some space for setting up scenery etc.
The rebuilding of the old Royal Opera House to its former splendour is a moral obligation on the authorities, a must for heritage and cultural aspects that has been taken away from the people.
A new modern monstrosity to be erected in front of the Norman House that today holds the Ministry for Social Policy would surely be an insult to this wonderful jewel and its surroundings.
