Volunteers of the Malta Red Cross Gozo Branch were kept busy during the Nadur carnival last Saturday, giving assistance in 32 cases.
Five people needed to be sent to hospital.
A spokesman said the first aiders helped 18 people who were drunk and others whose cases ranged from severe asthma to stomach upsets, cuts, bruises and two head injuries. One had a fractured arm.
The Red Cross made use of a medical car, three ambulances and a rescue vehicle. Besides the numerous first aiders, 15 paramedics were in attendance. A clinic was set up at the Nadur police station.
The spokesman thanked the police for having helped the volunteers quickly reach people in need of assistance.
The Red Cross also provided its assistance at carnival activities in Xewkija, Xaghara and Sannat. Volunteers from the Malta Branch also gave a helping hand.
