Slovak Jozef Marko, a member of the UEFA Referees Committee, will be the main speaker during the annual referees seminar in Malta.

The seminar, organised by the Malta FA Referees' Board, will be held at the Centenary Hall, Ta' Qali, between tomorrow and Sunday. All First and Second Class Referees and Match Inspectors will participate in the seminar.

Dr Joe Mifsud, the Malta FA president, will make his opening address tomorrow at 6 p.m., followed by a short introduction by Tom A. Restall, head of the MFA Referees Department.

The seminar continues with full-day programmes on Friday and Saturday which feature lectures on a variety of topics such as:

Law 12, fouls and misconduct, communication, referees and his assistants (Jozef Marko);

Referee/coach relationship (Horst Heese, MFA technical director);

Dealing with stress during a match (Ms Balzan, psychologist);

Medical aspects (Dr David Attard, MFA national team doctor); and

The referee and the media (Charles Camenzuli, journalist and the current secretary of AIPS and the Ghaqda Kittieba Sport).

The seminar includes practical demonstrations as well as group discussions.

It will come to a close on Sunday morning with Mass and another lecture by Mr Marko.

The closing address will be made by Dr Mifsud, who is a member of the UEFA Executive Committee and chairman of the MFA Referees' Board.
