Greece coach Otto Rehhagel criticised Euro 2004 organisers for using black goal nets instead of the more common white ones.

"What I don't like, and I have to say this, is these black nets," Rehhagel told reporters after his battling team drew 1-1 with Spain.

"They are an absolute catastrophe and could only be the work of some bureaucrat and not some footballer."

"Fans want to see the ball go into the nets, white nets, like at Wembley," a visibly angry Rehhagel said. "Not these ugly black ones."

He said the black nets, used in the eight stadiums across Portugal, did not add to the festive character of the tournament.
