Residents rescued from balconies after apartment block fire
Blaze in common area engulfs electrical meters, prompting urgent evacuation
A number of residents in Marsacala were left stranded on their balconies after a fire broke out in the common area of their apartment block on Friday.
The Civil Protection Department said the residents had to be “urgently” evacuated as they battled the blaze which engulfed the electrical meters of the block.
Residents were left trapped on their balconies as the fire raged in the common area of their apartment block. Photo: CPDFirefighters from stations 1, 4 and 5 used a 32m turntable ladder along with a 13.5 m ladder to rescue the residents and their pets.
CPD said no one was injured and the fire was successfully brought under control.
