The Radisson SAS Bay Point Resort in St George's Bay has been awarded an Industry Award for Environment by the Malta Environment and Planning Authority and the Institute for Cleaner Technology in collaboration with the Ministry for the Environment.
The management and staff of the resort had to demonstrate that the property was making use of cleaner, more efficient technology and had modified its operations to conserve energy and natural resources and reduce the adverse impact on the environment.
Raphael Cauchi, the resort's director of operations, said the property was designed to have minimum impact on the environment and the resort ran environmentally responsible operational practices.
This is the first time a company from the services sector has won the award.
The resort is owned and operated by Island Hotels Group, which also owns the Bugibba Holiday Complex, the Coastline Hotel, the Golden Sands Hotel and Island Caterers Ltd.
