In the only match from the top division in Gozo last weekend, SK Victoria Wanderers moved off the bottom of the table after a handsome 6-2 win over Sannat Lions.

Manwel Cordina inspired the Wanderers' victory, scoring four goals to halt his team's slide down the standings after a poor run in the league.

The Wanderers practically made sure of victory in the opening half when they scored three times without reply.

Cordina put them ahead on 23 minutes and Chris Sciortino made it 2-0 with an excellent strike on the half-hour. Minutes from half-time, it was Ajibade Adesina who hit home following a fine move involving Cordina and Ige Adesina.

Sannat were stunned but looked better as the second half got underway. They reduced the arrears through Fernando de Andrade but Cordina scored twice to dash the Lions' hopes.

John Camilleri narrowed the deficit for Sannat but Cordina was not finished yet and completed his poker of goals 11 minutes from time.

Division Two

Promotion seekers St Lawrence Spurs were held to a one-all draw by Żebbuġ Rovers to fall two points behind leaders Xagħra with the direct clash coming up.

The Saints could have scored an early goal but on 15 minutes Gothard Conti missed a penalty.

Conti, however, made up for that upset when giving St Lawrence the lead minutes after the restart. The Rovers hit back and levelled the score on 67 minutes through Abdul Mutalib from a corner.

In the other match, Munxar Falcons beat Qala St Joseph 2-0, the goals coming from Anthony Camilleri, the first inside the opening minute of the match.
