Restoration works and new lighting for Floriana parish church
The project includes structural restoration of the facade and the installation of modern lighting
The facade of the Floriana parish church is set to be restored and enhanced with a new lighting system, the Home Affairs Ministry has said.
In a statement, the ministry said the project includes structural and conservative restoration of the facade, as well as the installation of a modern and efficient lighting system designed to highlight the architecture of the church.
The work will be financed by the ministry, with additional assistance provided by tourism funds. A budget for the project was not provided.
Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri said the project reflected the government’s commitment to community investment, in particular, religious, historical and social sites.
Floriana’s church is not just a building, but a symbol of identity in Malta, Camilleri said.
Culture Minister Owen Bonnici said the project joins a series of other grants provided to parishes and chapels across Malta.
Archdiocese of Malta administrative secretary Michael Pace Ross and parish archpriest Fr Charles Cini were also present for the announcement.
