Some €4,000 is believed to have been taken by thieves who managed to cut open a safe in a room adjoining the Ibraġġ parish church, according to sources.

The theft took place on Sunday night. The police said they were informed yesterday at 9.30am. The money had been collected for the Mission Fund. A magisterial inquiry is under way.
