Residents in Parilja Street, Sta Venera were yesterday rudely awakened by the loud noise of a jigger as Water Services Corporation workmen attempted to find the cause of a leak.

Residents who called The Times said that water had started gushing out into the street on Monday and it was immediately reported. After the site was inspected, workmen arrived with a jigger at 1.15 a.m. yesterday.

"We were all jolted from our sleep and our young children were woken up and were crying with the fright. Not only that, but the problem was not even solved," one resident said - water was still gushing out yesterday morning.
