On the morning of Sunday, June 12, at exactly eight to be precise, a certain locality in Gozo was awakened by several loud, deafening and intrusive explosions. It was the local parish's way of announcing to the world at large, and to some very alarmed tourists at local area hotels I'm sure, that the feast of its patron saint was in full swing.
Was all this really necessary, though? Government neglect and ineptitude are not the only factors contributing to the decline of tourism in Gozo.
