England flyhalf Jonny Wilkinson made his comeback from injury on Friday, kicking 11 points in Newcastle's 23-22 defeat to Northampton in the English Premiership.

Wilkinson, who came on as a replacement after 37 minutes, was last week left out of the British and Irish Lions squad to tour New Zealand but coach Clive Woodward said he could be added to the 44-man party if he proves his fitness.

Wilkinson has not played a test since kicking the winning drop goal in the 2003 World Cup final against Australia due to a series of injuries.
