The Maritime Squadron of the AFM has just completed a gunnery training course based around the 25/80 KBA cannon on their Offshore Patrol Vessel P-61.
The course was conducted by Italian Military Mission and a Mobile Training Team (MTT) from Italy was brought over to Malta for the purpose. Members of the Maritime Squadron had previously undergone theoretical training in Malta and in Italy on familiarisation with and of use of their ship's ordnance.
The culmination of the the training was a live-fire exercise at sea which saw involved all the P-61's gunnery course students.
"The acquired knowledge of gunnery procedures, the dedicated methodology of tuition and the high degree of professionalism achieved now allows an inhouse training capability for the AFM to further train other Maritime Squadron personnel on the 25/80 KBA cannon," the Italian Military Mission said.
