Salmon mousse recalled due to poisoning risk that could cause muscle paralysis
Consumers warned not to eat Land's Salmon Mousse
The Food Safety and Security Authority has warned consumers not to eat a salmon mousse product sold under the brand Land due to concerns it could potentially lead to a type of food poisoning that could cause muscle paralysis.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the authority said Land’s Mousse con Salmone is potentially unsafe for consumption and should not be eaten. The product is manufactured in Germany and distributed locally by supermarket chain Eurospin.

“Clostridium botulinum type B is a bacterium that can cause food poisoning by producing a toxin that may affect the nervous system and lead to a condition known as botulism, which causes severe muscle paralysis,” the authority said.
According to the Mayo Clinic, “Botulism is a rare but serious condition. A toxin that attacks the body's nerves causes it. A type of bacterium called Clostridium botulinum produces the toxin. The toxin is known as botulinum toxin. Botulism symptoms may be life-threatening.”
Consumers should check products bearing lot number 0060074410 and an expiry date of May 20, 2026.
The Italian Ministry of Health also announced the product’s recall on Saturday due to a microbiological risk linked to the possible presence of botulinum toxins.
Consumers who have purchased the product should not consume it.
