The Samurai Ju-Jitsu clubs have just held the first set of 2003 competitions at the federation's headquarters in Hamrun. The main event was Random Attack.

Various judges, four for each mat and a referee, were needed to ensure the smooth running of the proceedings, under the supervision of founder and Malta Samurai Federation head Oboosan V. Sciortino.

With well over a 100 participants, this year's initial events were very interesting to watch as the various techniques were being applied in a matter of seconds.

The competition ran up to the semi-final stages. The finals will be held later on in the season.

Meanwhile, the federation announced it will be holding its National Congress between April 4 and 8. For this occasion, UK-based Terry Parker and his wife, Sensei Janet Parker, will be invited to attend along with Sensei Steven van Hauwermeiren from Belgium.
