The annual San Andrea Sports Day is always a very special one, even more so as this year it was held for the first time at the school's own sports grounds.

Sports Day at the Senior School was split into two categories: the first held on April 2 for students in Grades 10, 11 and 12 and the second was held on April 8 for students in Grades 8 and 9. This was done for two reasons: firstly so that Grade 12 students could take part for the last time before leaving school and secondly so that each and every child could participate in four events, two track and two field.

The field events comprised shot put and long jump, whereas the track events featured the 100 m, 200 m, 400 m, 800 m and 1,500 m. In track events there were heats for the 100 m and 200 m races.

Students could choose the events themselves according to their abilities. During the various activities, children showed their abilities and efforts, but above all they enjoyed themselves while competing against each other.

San Andrea School has a house colour system made up of four houses: House of Castille, House of Provence, House of Aragon and House of Auvergne - Blues, Reds, Greens and Yellows, respectively. Pupils were given points in all events including the heats of the 100 m and 200 m races. Points were added up for both Sports Days and the House of Provence (REDS) won the overall Sports Day Cup. Medals were also presented to the first three placed in each event.

Sports Day was a memorable day for all the children, whether they were successful or not. What was important is that they all participated and tried their best. By doing so, they made themselves, their house masters and the whole school very proud.

San Andrea gives priority to participation in sport as it develops a strong character, a sense of loyalty, concern for social contribution, a sense of individual achievement and success.
