I refer to the letter of John Borg (Heritage Explained, December 30) regarding the notice board which the local council placed just in front of the cart-ruts opening in Mensija Road, San Gwann.
It is a must to inform readers that such decision was approved by the third council legislation, when at that time I served as a councillor and proposed to place an information board near all historical sites in our locality, but, despite the rhetoric of the past fourth council, for some reason this proposal was left aside.
After the March 2006 elections, the new Labour council made this decision part of the electoral programme for the coming three years. The council will endeavour to promote various educational campaigns such as library services, free internet services and lately invested in a new website to give our viewers a sense of tourism value.
We will continue to do our best to provide an efficient and effective organisation structure which will enable the council to present viable information to promote our islands as a potential destination for tourists.
On an international level, the San Gwann council is seeking to create some kind of cultural diversity to utilise EU funds for cultural exchanges with similar opportunities.
