The first Gieh Sannat was awarded to Archpriest Canon Tarcisio Camilleri during a musico-literary event, recently organised by the local council.

Compered by Jason Curmi and Rose Fava, the evening featured performances by soprano Giorgina Gauci and the St Mary Band.

Mgr Lawrence Sciberras read the poem he wrote for the occasion.

Speeches were delivered by Sannat mayor Carmel Camilleri and President Emeritus Guido de Marco.

A speech was also delivered by Vittorio Rocca, mayor of Pisoniano, in the province of Rome, who, with his delegation, was invited by the local council to discuss a twinning agreement of the two localities in the near future. Commemorative participation certificates were also given to the ten nominees at the end of the ceremony.
