Labour leader Alfred Sant has discussed the potential for more tourism between Malta and Australia during meetings in Sydney.

Dr Sant and Labour MP Charles Mangion rounded off their meetings in this city with a visit to a factory involved in the maintenance of large ships and a meeting with port authorities.

They were also given a warm welcome at the Hamrun Club outside Sydney, which Dr Sant said he had visited in 1994 when it consisted of just one room lit by one lightbulb.

Dr Sant and Dr Mangion's trip continues with a visit to the federal capital, Canberra.
