The time has come for a national protest against the mistaken policies of the Nationalist government and to call on it to change its ways, Labour Party leader Alfred Sant said yesterday during a visit to the Mosta market.
He said his current series of visits to open air markets in various localities were designed to hear what was irking the Maltese and Gozitan families most. Many, he added, were facing problems arising from unemployment, the high cost of living, a lack of money in circulation and the high cost of medicine.
Dr Sant said his visits had served to show that there existed a slump in business.
He criticised those at Public Broadcasting Services who were responsible for news bulletins, accusing them of trying to hide the fact that the MLP was organising a national protest. Sometimes the news did not even mention when and where the protest was going to be held, he said.
