A new Labour government would carefully assess how to reduce, within international laws, HSBC`s overwhelming influence over the Maltese economy, Labour leader Alfred Sant said.

A Labour government would, among other things, be committed to offering a guide to the self-employed to help them cope with problems related to investment, he said.

He was speaking at a meeting with self-employed people in Fgura yesterday.
