Opposition leader Alfred Sant on Friday sued the Prime Minister for slander over a claim which Dr Fenech Adami made during the televised debate between the two party leaders on European Union membership, which concluded the campaign on Thursday.
Dr Sant filed the writ over Dr Fenech Adami's claim that, as chairman of the University selection board in the Eighties, Dr Sant had denied Dr Fenech Adami's son a place at the University of Malta after conducting an interview.
He called on the Magistrates' Court to condemn Dr Fenech Adami to pay him damages.
The Malta Labour Party yesterday protested with Public Broadcasting Services over PBS's failure to report the filing of Dr Sant's court case against the Prime Minister.
In a protest letter to PBS's chief executive, the MLP said there was no valid reason for the omission of the news item on the PBS 8 p.m. news bulletin.
