The Santander Group of Universities has a general objective to promote a programme of visiting administrative and academic staff within its universities. The requirements are participation of lecturer or doctoral researchers for teaching assignment or research collaboration and participation of an administrator in learning or teaching a procedure or technique.
The Santander Group subsidises up to eight visits by É500 each to help with travel and subsistence costs. The beneficiaries may use other sources of funding as a supplement.
Interested candidates should present their applications at the international office of the home university. Each university may propose not more than three candidates.
Applications should be sent to the Santander Group Secretariat, in Brussels. They should consist of a c.v. up to two pages long, concentrating on the aspects relevant to the application; a supporting letter from the home university with the summary of the proposed programme of visit; and a description and duration of the programme proposed to be carried out at the host university.
It is important that the applicants mention the added value of their visit for both their home and host university; applicants should have already contacted and agreed the visit with the host university. Consequently, they should add to the application a letter from the host university confirming their agreement to the visit, the proposed programme and date of the visit.
The duration of the placement is at the discretion of the beneficiary and of the host university. It should take place between October 2004 and September 2005.
The beneficiaries are asked to write a report of the results of their visit within a month of their return to the home university, including a summary of the programme carried out and an assessment of the visit.
